Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?
Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They're both dogs!
Can blind people see their dreams? Do they dream??
Why does the Alphabet song (a b c d e f g…) and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune? Stop singing and read on......
Did you ever notice that when you blow air in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him on a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?
Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive faster?
Why is it that people say he "slept like a baby" when babies wake up every two hours?
Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are flat?
Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?

OLD VERSION...
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long building his houseand laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant's a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
MODERN VERSION...
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant's a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house. Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other grasshoppers demanding that grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter. Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the grasshopper. The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance). Opposition MP's stage a walkout.Leftparties call for "Bharat Bandh" in West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry. CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among ants and grasshoppers.
Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the 'Grasshopper Rath'.
Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the Prevention of Terrorism Against Grasshoppers Act [POTAGA]", with effect from the beginning of the winter.
Arjun Singh makes Special Reservation for Grass Hopper in educational Insititutions & in Govt Services.
The ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV.
Arundhati Roy calls it "a triumph of justice". Lalu calls it 'SocialisticJustice'. CPM calls it the 'revolutionary resurgence of the downtrodden' Koffi Annan invites the grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.
Many years later...The ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multibillion dollar company in silicon valley. 100s of grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere in India ...As a result losing lot of hard working ants and feeding the grasshoppers, India is still a developing country...... Can any one dare to bring India out of this clutches...

Hmmm... Been thinking about posting something on ppl and their mobile phones for quite sometime now :D! Riding daily to office on the Bannerghatta Road is an experience!
Especially ppl talking on their mobile phones so constantly and consistently, that it actually surprises me!! There are folks in the car who dont realise which direction their steering is taking in a completely packed road with really slow moving traffic.. Then there are some on their bikes with the cell between their shoulder and the ear... Their focus is so much on that balancing act that they forget they are riding on the road!!
And this incident tops it all... I was riding in front of the Oracle Tech Park and in front of me was a Santro which was moving slow though there was enuff space to move ahead.. Managed to overtake it and not much to my surprise I see a pretty lady on the driving seat typing a message on the cell n drive!!
On a more serious note, wish everyone on the road is more careful about their actions and responsible for them too. Accidents take a second to happen but might change ones life forever!!

The festival morning started usual with the pooja at the temple near my house... For those of you who dont know which temple I m talking about... here are a couple of photos.. :)
Then the pooja at home with 5 types of sweets..went on fine.. Again back to temple by 12 noon. The "mangalarti" got over by 1.. did some work serving food to devotees.. all done by around 3.
While I was in the temple met this kid..or should I say an infant of about 5 months.. His name is Adhvit. Was so cute that I cud not take my eyes off him. Had a lovely smile and the moment anyone held him, wud try to climp up. The innocence on a child's face is mindblowing!! The beautiful expressions on the face make u forget the world :) We've grown up to loose that innocence... see the real world... learning to live with it.. and wish we cud change some things but cannot!!
Another incident that related to innocence.. They were doing auction of some items in the temple which has been a convention now mainly done for fund raising... People were quoting their bids and buying these items. Now, an item is auctioned at 5K. A kid comes to her mom and says "mom, y didnt u say 6ooo when they said 5000?".. The mom answered "Dear.. who'll pay the money later?" and the kid so innocently said "oh... we have to pay too?" :D
Then there were some cultural programs... a couple of gals performed a classical dance which was worth watching... After that the pooja in the night followed by the immersion of Ganesha idol. The eventful day ended at 11pm.
Enjoyed the festival at the temple after 2 years!!
